Have you ever offered someone advice that you know will be very helpful to them… but they just don’t seem to want to apply it? They just continue to do what they had been doing previously and in turn, experience the same results.

This happens quite often, in my experience. There was one particular company that I was doing consulting for who engaged dozens of highly experienced contractors and consultants to work on a huge project.

The challenge that I and many of the other consultants experienced was this… We would identify opportunities where there could be improvements made on how the client executed certain processes or tasks. We provided suggestions, based on our previous experience, knowledge and expertise, but found the client to be totally resistant to change. As a result, the outcomes didn’t change either. The project cost much more and took much longer than they initially expected.

The client had all of this knowledge and experience at their fingertips, but didn’t take advantage.

Basic Principle #2: The Teachability Index

 

There are 2 factors that comprise The Teachability Index:

 

1)      Willingness to Learn

2)      Willingness to Accept Change

 

The Teachability Index is a Huge principle to consider when you are pursuing success in your life.

Once you have defined your dream and got a burning desire for its achievement, you will find that the How comes to you in subtle ways. Sometimes the How involves you learning a new skill set that will enable you to achieve your goal. Often times, you must Change the way you are doing something, in order to achieve the results that you desire.

 

Willingness to Learn:

The Willingness to Learn principle asks the question, what would you be willing to give up, to learn what you need to in order to achieve success?

For example, if you wanted to get a professional certification, but you need to spend your evenings studying for the exam… would you be willing to give up TV shows for a month, so you could master the content?

Would you be willing to give up your favourite activity for 1 year if it meant that you would achieve your desire?

Would you be willing to pay $5000 to attend a seminar that would teach you how to achieve your dreams?

That’s the first factor in the Teachability Index. What would you be willing to give up?

 

 

Willingness to Accept Change:

Remember that If you want things in your life to change, you have to change things in your life. If you continue to do the same things over and over and expect to get a different result… well, that’s the definition of insanity.

In order to have a high Teachability Index, you must have a high willingness to accept change.

These changes may be as seemingly simple as listening to success audios in your car, instead of listening to music.

Sounds easy enough… doesn’t it? Would you do it if you were told that it would create more success in your life?

That’s one change I made in my life and I feel that it has been a big contributing factor to the growing success I am experiencing.

 

These Success Enabling Insights are a collection of relatively simple little things that you can apply in your life in order to make success come more easily.

You will experience great success in your life, if you make the effort to apply these techniques… however, you will only experience the results if you are willing to spend the time to learn them and willing to make some changes in how you do a few things.
